the colasanti legacy
Rocco Colasanti, originally from Ceprano, Italy, arrived in Detroit, Michigan, in 1920 where he spent 17 years as a cement mason.. In 1953, Rocco and his sons, Alfred and Angelo, founded Colasanti Cement Floor Company Inc. Starting with basic construction materials, they transformed concrete into the foundation of a thriving corporation and the cornerstone of Detroit's growth. Rocco's passion for concrete went beyond mere livelihood; it was his life's work. He studied concrete, pioneering new methods that allowed his company to work in any conditions. His deep understanding and meticulous planning led to numerous successful projects.
Colasanti expanded from concrete flooring to deep foundations and high-rise structural construction by the 1970s. Rocco passed away in 1969, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge and strategic development that laid the foundation for future generations.
Angelo Colasanti joined the company in 1953 and followed in his father's footsteps as a gifted cement mason and businessman. Under Angelo's guidance, Colasanti evolved into an industry leader, specializing in large-scale automotive and industrial concrete placements across the United States from the 1970s to the 1990s. Angelo's contributions to the American Concrete Industry and his leadership on multiple ACI committees have helped to shape the industry today.
Even after decades of success, Angelo remains actively involved in mentoring executives and maintaining relationships. His dedication to God, family, and the company continues to inspire those he has helped throughout his distinguished career.
